Pick a major sporting event. Think about the build up, media hype, symbols, merchandise tie-ins, the broadcast of the event, the economic implications for the broadcaster and society, the male vs. female roles portrayed related to the event, and the way you or others you know alter their lives in relation to the broadcast. Extend your thinking beyond the actual event to the pre or post event coverage of the sporting event. Try to make a list that explains the various theoretical considerations at work through media in relation to the event.
