Richard A. Fabes, Ph.D., is professor of child development at Arizona State University, where he has been for more than 15 years. He is the Chair of the Department of Family and Human Development and is a member of the Society for Research in Child Development, National Council on Family Relations, American Psychological Association, and American Psychological Society. Fabes is or has been a member of the editorial boards of several widely known scientific journals, including Developmental Psychology and Psychological Bulletin. He has written over 100 articles, book chapters, and edited books, including a co-authored chapter in the new edition of the Handbook of Child Psychology. Most of these publications are in the areas of socio-emotional development of young children. He is married to Carol Martin, and away from work he enjoys tennis, traveling, and music.
Carol Lynn Martin, Ph.D., is professor of child development at Arizona State University, where she has been for more than 10 years. She is a member of the Society for Research in Child Development, National Council on Family Relations, and American Psychological Society and a fellow of the American Psychological Association. Martin is or has been a member of the editorial boards of several widely known scientific journals, including Developmental Psychology and Child Development. She has written over 50 articles and book chapters, including a co-authored chapter in the new edition of the Handbook of Child Psychology. Most of these publications are in the
areas of gender-role development and the cognitive processes underlying it. She is married to Richard Fabes, whom she met at a professional conference when they were at separate universities, and away from work she enjoys tennis, traveling, reading, and swimming.
