Since 1993, the author and her colleagues have been working with primary children to help them make sense of their world and to help them begin to develop their literacy and communication skills. Through iLEARN, her primary children have been in touch with students in other parts of the globe. They also use video editing, email, and Web sites to help improve their communication skills. The authors first present some of the advantages in rewiring the history and social studies classrooms but then go on to point out a number of disadvantages and dangers inherent in a such a move. It is evident that technology is being integrated but it is not being done evenly and this is a danger. When considering the integration of technology and social studies, it would be wise to consider the potential pitfalls and dangers so you are prepared to handle or avoid them.
