How can you and your students participate in a global scientific learning communities?
The GLOBE project (http://www.globe.gov ) is an international network of students, teachers, and scientists from 85 countries who are working together to understand the global environment. Students participating in the GLOBE project make environmental observations in their own local area and then report their data to the project via the Internet. Scientists then use this student data in their research and give students feedback that helps them make the connection between science education and this global real-world scientific experiment.
Activity:
Visit the GLOBE site and explore its instructional richness. Then explore one of the sites listed below or find another of your choice that creates a global classroom. Write a summary of how the site works to create a learning community and describe how you would use it in your classroom.
