On the Web! Activities |
|
To offer your own website with homework assignments, calendars, recognition of good student performance, and all the information you want students, administrators, parents, and, yes, the community also, to share with you and your classroom, there are many web-hosting sites to help you build your own website that do not require technological expertise. You simply enter the information (1) to verify you are a teacher in a school; (2) to describe your class(es) and select the tools you wish to use; and (3) to submit your website by the click of a mouse. It’s there ready to be viewed by your students, parents, and other interested parties.
School Notes
(http://www.schoolnotes.com/ ) offers educators free school web sites. You can create simple pages easily or follow step-by-step instructions so you can learn how to do more complex tasks using HTML. Options let you publish an online newsletter of classroom activities, showcase your students’ best work, organize the pages within folders, and edit images and add them to your image library.
Activity:
Review three links to academic web hosts from those listed above or from the list below or from your own web search. Compare the features of all three to determine which site you would choose to use to host your class web page. Be prepared to share with your peers which features and services convinced you to select that site.
