8.2 Online Organizations

What can organizational web sites offer you?

Many professional organizations have a presence on the Web. From their own web sites, these organizations offer you many useful tools and ideas as well as information about the organization itself. You can find information on the latest issues and concerns for teachers; lesson plans and teaching tools; excellent links to teaching resources; interactive conferences; and depending upon the site, an assortment of content-related materials. Exploring these professional sites can provide you with a wealth of information relevant to teaching and learning.

Activity:

Review three web sites from the list of organizational sites presented below or others related to an educational content area of interest to you. Select the one most important to you and explore it fully. Prepare a brief review of the site to share with your peers.
