- Differentiate primary and secondary sources in terms of their contribution to a literature review.
- Identify key terms relevant to a specific research problem and conduct a search of the ERIC
Thesaurus to broaden and narrow these terms.
- Identify the appropriate journal indexes that can be used to locate educational research.
- Conduct a computerized ERIC search relevant to a specific research problem.
- Outline three steps necessary to writing a review of the literature. Discuss the differences between
writing a quantitative and qualitative literature review with regard to purpose, use of the literature,
and organization.
- Identify the criteria used to evaluate literature reviews and evaluate a specific review using this
criteria.
