After completing the study of Chapter 3, students should be able to:

1. Identify, select, and refine a topic for research;
2. State the research problem in a way that sufficiently describes the purpose of the study;
3. Phrase appropriate research questions and hypotheses; and
4. Organize and present a research proposal.
