Chapter Summary

In Chapter Ten: Adapting the Curriculum for Multicultural Classrooms, Nieto and Bode explore the application of multicultural education in curricular design. The following three examples in the chapter are considered adaptations rather than prescribed or "cookie cutter" multicultural lesson plans which go against the dynamic and contextual nature of multicultural education. Instead the authors offer possibilities of curricular adaptations through the experiences of others who have developed multicultural curriculum within their communities to promote social justice through "models of fierce hopefulness".
