Journaling our thoughts and feelings often helps us clarify information, questions, our own views. We have provided a few prompts that you may find useful.
- How does it feel to have a child with a disability? What are differences among experiences of families? Imagine yourself to have just been told that your child has a significant disability. Journal the thoughts and feelings you might have.
- How comfortable do you feel talking with parents, explaining to them how you teach and why, talking with them about strengths and challenges of their children? Journal your feelings, positive and negative, hopes and fears.
- What do you think and feel about helping families and parents connect with resources in the community? How do you feel about making connections yourself in the community in which your school is located? How might you do this? Journal some ideas you have as well as thoughts and feelings.
