This website explains ways to determine how similar or different groups are at the beginning of a quasi-experiment. Students could brainstorm all of the ways they could think of to analyze subjects to form groups, and then compare their results with what the information on the website. A few examples on this site include: finding background information, performing a pretest, and getting supplemental information from other people like teachers, parents, or therapists.
This website provides students with an opportunity to explore their mathematical skills. Not only is a full description of regression towards the mean given as well as examples and numerous charts, but there is a formula to use in order to figure the percentage of regression to the mean. The formula is Prm = 100(1 - r). The website gives four sample problems for students to try. Teachers could use the website's examples or come up with different numbers for the students to plug in the formula.
The information on the encyclopedia's website will help students develop an understanding of the basic concepts of regression toward the mean.
