  • The student should be able to analyze the extent of divorce in modern societies, state who is at risk of experiencing divorce, and describe its effects on people and society.

  • The student should be able to describe the diverse family lifestyles that are found in modern societies and explain some of the reasons why they exist.

  • The student should be able to describe the nature and extent of violence in the family and the social conditions that produce it.

  • The student should be able to describe the images of families that are portrayed in the media and how those images influence people.

  • The student should be able to discuss what changes will likely occur in the future to the family as a social institution in modern societies.
