- The student should be able to describe the extent to which gender differences in behavior are due to biological factors and analyze why gender differences exist according to the three sociological perspectives.
- The student should be able to describe the role of the family, the schools, and the media in teaching people about gender.
- The student should be able to describe the extent to which women and men suffer discrimination in economic and other realms because of their gender.
- The student should be able to describe the patterns of gender inequality that are found in various nations around the world and compare them with the patterns found in the United States.
- The student should be able to describe the movement for gender equality in the United States and around the world, including what advances and setbacks there have been in the realms of the law, the workplace, and politics.
