Points to Emphasize

We use inferential statistics to make decisions about population parameters when data come from a random sample. Beware of situations when inferential statistics are applied where there is no random sample. What then is the population to which you are inferring? Make sure that the statistical analysis matches the research question rather than choosing the research question that matches the statistical analysis that you know.
