Choosing Appropriate Verb Forms
Chapter Objectives

This chapter reviews the basics of verb use and verb form patterns, especially the most difficult verb forms and constructions. The chapter objectives that follow will help you figure out whether you have really mastered the material presented in this chapter. After reading this chapter and completing its exercises, you should be able to:
  1. Explain to another student the basic verb forms (present tense, past tense, participle, etc.)

  2. Recognize and correctly use past, present, past participle, and other verb tense forms

  3. Recognize and correctly conjugate irregular verb forms, including lie and lay, set and sat, and others

  4. Recognize and correctly use passive, active, and subjunctive verb forms

  5. Recognize and create a clear tense sequence
