The focus of this chapter is recognizing, revising, and avoiding misplaced, dangling, and disruptive modifiers that will frustrate readers.

  1. Explain to another student how a modifier is properly used to limit the meaning of another word group

  2. Explain to another student how a modifier's location can affect the meaning of a sentence

  4. Avoid split infinitives

  5. Use absolute phrases effectively
