Chapter Objectives

This chapter will help you develop strategies for editing and proofreading, two unique but vital skills to help produce polished writing. The chapter objectives that follow will help you figure out whether you have really mastered the material presented in this chapter. After reading this chapter and completing its exercises, you should be able to:
  1. Explain to another student several strategies to recognize errors of all kinds as a key phase of the writing process

  2. Create a personalized editing checklist to record and monitor errors that you most need to search for before revising and submitting written work in its polished form

  3. Collaborate effectively with peers and colleagues to polish writing through a mutually rewarding collaborative process
