36.2 Apostrophes and Informal Writing
|
Informal writing can be difficult to edit because spelling and grammar-checkers do not always recognize the difference between "they're" and "there," "you're" and "your," "who's" and "whose," or "it's" and "its." In the following passage, there are many such errors. On the other hand, "po'boy," the name of a Louisiana sandwich, is an acceptable contraction. Edit the following paragraph for the confused contractions and other uses of the apostrophe discussed in Section 35b. Click HERE for the corrected version.
