The chapter objectives that follow will help you figure out whether you have really mastered the material presented in this chapter.
After reading this chapter and completing its exercises, you should be able to:
- explain to another student how to move from research questions to a plan and a thesis
- develop a tentative thesis to give your planning focus and modify it as you proceed in your planning
- plan the organizational structure of your written work though outlining, grouping information, cutting and pasting, and focusing on the introduction and the conclusion.
- integrate both print and electronic resources into your writing
- understand strategies for incorporating quotes, paraphrases, facts, details, statistics, and visuals into the text of your written work
