9.1 Choosing a community style

Visit the Web site for a major national news organiztion, and use the five concepts described on page 47 (values, language, formality, writer’s stance, and distance) to analyze the community style employed by that site for the purposes of reaching a large public audience. You may want to compare one site to another to see if there are different strategies used by different online news outlets. Do these style differences reflect different assumptions about the site’s reading audience? How would you describe those differences?
