As a general rule, it is best first to exhaust all the resources that are provided by your instructor, by the handbook, and by this supporting Web site since it is possible that you might get different advice or even contradictory advice from some of the external sites below.

• Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL)
  This site is a very detailed resource that includes handouts and exercises related to grammar, punctuation, and editing. ESL note: This site includes specific resources for ESL writers. Website Excerpt: “There are several ways to find what you are looking for on our OWL. You can begin on our home page, and follow the hierarchical links to the specific areas you wish to explore, or you may search our site using our on-site search engine. You can also link between sections, to find materials on related subjects.”

  Along with inviting specific questions, this site includes resources and a searchable database to make it easy to find the specific information you need.
