Chapter Summary
Chapter 1 introduces you to the basic steps in getting started with a research paper. When you complete this chapter, you should be ready to draw up a plan for your paper that will include the following processes:
Determining the purpose of your paper;
Generating and exploring ideas for a topic;
Evaluating your topic; and
Formulating a tentative thesis for your paper.
