This activity contains 3 questions.

There are a number of striking points packed into this very brief argument—about both slavery and women’s rights. Analyze each of the assertions Sojourner Truth makes, whether explicit or implied, and how she supports each assertion.

Read “Aren’t I a Woman?” along with Elizabeth Cady Stanton’s “Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions” (page 686). Although the two speeches are very different, consider in particular what they have in common. Then think about how the two women go about achieving their point.
