Environmental Policy
When the environment and the energy industry cross there is often a contentious debate. That is the case regarding the question of whether or not to open up the Artic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska to oil exploration. Advocates of the proposal say that it will reduce the nation's dependency on foreign oil. Opponents say it will damage a very delicate eco-system. What do you think? Explore the proposal, the pros, and the cons for yourself.

Why it Matters
The policies that we pursue often have long-term consequences when they don't work like we think they will work. Many people feel that the United States needs to find new sources of oil but many people also worry about damaging the environment at the same time.
Get Involved
Do you feel strongly for or against exploring for oil in the Artic? Let your member of Congress know how you feel with an e-mail or letter.
