1 .       According to Jane Bryant Quinn, "Pawnshops and shops advertising "loans until payday" are sprouting in the suburbs." 

 
 


2 .       One suburban mother of three said, "I never thought I'd be standing in front of a pawnbroker, asking 'How much can you give me for this?'" 

 
 


3 .       She continued, "The first time I pawned a piece of jewelry, I said to myself, "Just this once," but I've done it twice since then." 

 
 


4 .       According to one pawnbroker, "Suburbanites used to have a 'not in my back yard' attitude toward us." 

 
 


5 .       Now, he says, "Some of my best customers look like they just walked off the set of "The Brady Bunch."
