Heres a list of the jobs currently held by volunteers at Literacy Memphis.
83 volunteers serve as individual tutors.
5 volunteers teach small classes in reading, writing, speaking, and computer programming skills.
6 volunteers serve as Proctors in the Literacy Memphis Computer Center.
21 volunteers, many of whom are high school students, help the full-time staff with office work such as filing, addressing envelopes, delivering documents, scheduling tutoring sessions, communicating with tutors and students, and answering e-mail.
8 volunteers assist the full-time staff in planning and running the organizations training sessions and fund-raising events.
4 volunteers assist Bobby Parks, the Director of the Read Me a Story Program, in soliciting, collecting, cataloging, and distributing the books used by the program.
15 volunteers help the full-time staff to build connections with groups and organizations in Memphis and the Mid-South.
21 volunteers make presentations for Literacy Memphis at local libraries, churches, synagogues, and other organizations. These volunteers help the organization recruit new tutors and donors, as well as further publicize the problem of illiteracy in Memphis and the U.S.
