|
Your answers to the questions in the Punctuation Personality Quiz will probably show you a pattern of preference for one of these types. Read on to learn more!
| Period | You are direct and to-the-point, a lover of closure and definition. You like the end of things, and you appreciate clarity. You always want to know the bottom line. You're at a loss when things become questionable or emotional, so you recruit your cousins the Question Mark and the Exclamation Point as needed to replace you. Periods get extraordinarily bored when they aren't surrounded by their best friends, who tend to be mainly Commas or Semicolons. In fact, the Periods' ultimate nightmare is to find themselves in a Paragraph bereft of these friends.
Famous PERIODS: Rosa Parks, Bill Gates, Alan Greenspan, George Steinbrenner |
| Comma | You are the most sensitive of the punctuation, with a musician or orator's fine understanding of phrasing, notes, and pauses. You despise being left out of situations that require your light touch, but being overused really makes your blood boil. Some of your best friends are conjunctions, but it's the Periods in your life who need you to keep their existences from being simple.
Famous COMMAS: Ray Charles, Beethoven, Ella Fitzgerald, Martin Luther King, Jr., Bill Clinton, Mahatma Gandhi |
| Semicolon | You love elegance and subtlety. Semicolon women wear gloves to formal events; semicolon men wear cufflinks. You are not afraid of inserting yourself in the midst of conflicting thoughts and opinions. You never mind when people treat you like a Period, but you despise being treated like a Comma. You make rare appearances; when you're not alone, you are often followed by your dear friends however and a Comma.
Famous SEMICOLONS: Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Halle Berry, James Bond, Sidney Poitier, Oprah Winfrey |
| Colon | You love order, and this is most evident in how you organize your life: lists, calendars, and other reminders for yourself and others. You have a strong sense of duty toward your job, which can't be performed by any other form of punctuation. You often have a Period following you to make sure you achieve your goals. Along with your deep love of lists, you adore introducing quotations. You despise being treated like or confused with a Comma.
Famous COLONS: George Patton, Martha Stewart, Colin Powell |
| Question mark | Did you know you are a question mark? Probably! You enjoy being enigmatic, reveling in the Big Questions rather than the answers. A true philosopher, you eagerly step in for your cousin the Period when thought-provoking questions rather than clear answers are required. You hate being used when the answer is known or obviouswhy bother appearing, if that's the case? And you love the little dances you do with your friends the Quotation Marks. Sometimes you lead, and sometimes they do.
Famous QUESTION MARKS: Mona Lisa, Socrates, Carlos Castenada, Dostoevsky, Andy Warhol, Confucius |
| Exclamation Point | You're an exclamation point, loud and proud! Everybody knows when you walk into a room, and you're famous for your exuberance and dramatic turns. Nobody can express love, hate, frustration, fearyou name it! better than you. You eagerly step in for your cousin the Period when need be, since you add that justright touch of emotion. You like to keep your appearances rare, thoughwhen too many exclamation points crowd together, they might as well be Periods!
Famous EXCLAMATION POINTS: Malcolm X, Donald Trump, Che Guevara, Frida Kahlo, Chris Rock |
