GENERAL WRITING RESOURCES

Here are some online writing resources that you can use when developing your own writing. Consider these resources as you would any other text by keeping context, genre, language, and consequences in mind. Why are certain things emphasized or frowned upon in writing and how can you use that to your advantage? Notice how these writing resources are different from each other and also from the discussions in this textbook.

  • The Slot
At The Slot, copy editor Bill Walsh, from The Washington Post, discusses some of the most frequently made mistakes in English writing, and explains why they are incorrect.

  • Internet Public Library
At the Internet Public Library you can find help on all stages of the writing process, from researching skills needed online to how to use your local or school library to investigate your area of interest.
