After reading Chapter 2 in the textbook, you should be able to:

1. describe the relationship between California’s geographic, demographic and cultural influences in context with its political situation,
2. describe California’s political culture from a conservative and liberal point of view,
3. describe the pros and cons of the state’s ethnic diversity, and
4. discuss the issues of social and economic inequality, especially in regards to the vast gap between the rich and poor.
