Annotating and Summarizing
During reading, you should annotate or mark your text to help you
concentrate
and to make it easier to review the material later.
Cover up the text so that you see only the questions; then try to recall the
answers.
Write summaries at the end of long sections.
After reading, reduce the material into a summary of what you have read to check your comprehension. If you can summarize the author’s point and major supporting details, you have understood the material. Annotations and summary notes are excellent tools to use when studying for tests.
