(6) Drug addicts face unimaginable terrors. First, most addicts struggle with guilt, shame, and isolation. They know they are destroying themselves and that others think poorly of them. Sadly, this knowledge often drives them deeper into their addiction. Many want help and just don't know how to get or accept the help they so desperately need. The humane response is to provide addicts with programs that will help them overcome their addiction. They need to know that with help and determination, they can live a full life, a life of health, a life of dignity.

(7) Dear President Bush,

I know you are very busy, but I needed to ask you if you could help our school, Regal Elementary School, by giving us money for books and equipment. It would mean a lot to us. It would give us a better education. I really need a good education because I want to become a teacher. If you give us this money, I know our school would really appreciate it.

Sincerely,
Tanisha

(8)The second wife of former Beatle Paul McCartney is a wonderful role model. A businesswoman, model, activist, survivor, and wife, Heather Mills McCartney has led an amazing life. Perhaps her inspiring qualities are most clear in the ordeal she faced when she lost her left leg below the knee. In August 1993, Heather was in a car accident that broke her ribs, punctured her lungs, and took her leg. Instead of being devastated, Heather overcame her injury and dedicated herself to meeting the needs of others through charity work. Today, she works tirelessly for the United Nations Adopt-a-Minefield program. She works to rid the world of the leftover land mines that rip limbs from innocent civilians. Heather Mills McCartney is a true inspiration.

(9)Racial prejudice is a sin against humanity. How does one dare to think less of another human being simply because of color or ethnic origin? How does one dare to think of oneself as so much more special or righteous than another? To do so is the height of arrogance. And those who sit in silence as discrimination takes place are no better than those who discriminate. Those who sit in silence and listen to words of hate are no better than those who speak those very words. Shame on those whose love of their own color drives them to hate those of different hues. Shame on those whose love of their own voices drowns out the rich tones of diversity. Shame on those of us who let them.

Question 10.

(10) Think it through, Nathan. Your grandfather has been in the car business for over 40 years. If he believes you are not going to be able to make any money on your car, then he is probably right. And because he owns the auto auction, he can wholesale it and get it off your hands. Even though you won't make a profit, you won't have the headache of selling a worthless car. And you'll have a little cash in your pocket since the car is already paid for. If you think the rims you put on the car are worth something, then take those off before you turn the car over and try to sell them separately.
