Color Vision

How to Study for an Algebra Final Exam

      1When faithfully followed, these five steps should ensure mastery of the material you will face in an intermediate algebra class. 2Keep in mind that this strategy works only if you have been keeping up with assignments and coming to class on a regular basis. 3First, begin to study for the final exam three days to two weeks ahead of the exam. 4Start by browsing through each chapter, reviewing the highlighted or boxed information regarding important formulas. 5If the textbook offers summaries and reviews, read these, too. 6During this step, you may come across some formulas that you will need to memorize. 7For step two, summarize them on an index card and quiz yourself frequently. 8As your third step, retake each chapter test that you took in class, assuming your instructor has returned it. 9If not, then use the chapter test in the book. 10At this time, restudy the objectives in the text that go with each question that you missed. 11Fourth, if your teacher has given you a practice cumulative review test, work through it during the last couple of days before the final. 12Set aside the same amount of time that you will have for the final. 13See how much you can complete under test-like conditions. 14Again, restudy any objectives that are linked to questions you missed. 15Finally, for any remaining difficulties, see your instructor, go to a tutoring session, or join a study group.
