Objective
To recognize the qualities of a main idea in concrete, tangible ways.

arrow.gifStep 2: Here are two more comparisons that other students have created to explain the concept of the main idea. Read them, and then continue creating other comparisons based on the photos.

“A main idea is like a skeleton’s backbone because it frames a body of thought composed of connected ideas.”

“A main idea is like a telescope because it allows you to focus on all the details such as the planets and stars. It is necessary because without the telescope, you cannot see the stars, and without the main idea, you cannot focus on the details.”
