Chapter 7: Outlines and Concept Maps
Lab Activity 31: Creating Outlines from Questions

Objective
To create an outline by using questions about the major and minor details.

Step 1: Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow.

1Tales can be divided into two subgroups: the tall tale and the fairy tale. 2First, the tall tale is that variety of folk story which recounts the deeds of a superhero. 3If the storyteller is telling about his own imaginary experience, his bragging yarn is usually told with a straight face to listeners who take pleasure in scoffing at it. 4Examples of tall tales include stories about John Henry, Paul Bunyan, and Mike Fink. 5Second, the fairy tale is set in a world of magic and enchantment. 6These include tales by Hans Christian Andersen such as "The Little Mermaid" and "Hansel and Gretel" by the brothers Grimm.
