Two Causes of Abuse in the Family

Parents who abuse their children were often abused themselves. Too often, abused children become abusive parents. To stop the cycle of abuse, the reasons for abuse must be understood. In some cases, poverty may breed abuse. Poverty may arise from lack of education, unemployment, or divorce. Lack of money to cover the cost of food, housing, and clothing can cause deep fear and anger, leading to abuse. In other cases, family stress may lead to abuse. Poor relationships between parents and children may lead to violence. Alcohol and drug abuse can also lead to family violence.
