Recategorization
Recategorization is one way to overcome prejudice. It is defined as changing the two groups of "us" and "them" into one group of "we." In the change, the two groups are no longer divided in their goals. The distinctions between the groups are played down, and the groups begin to think and act as one body. Examples of recategorization are common in everyday life. For example, a worker who earns a promotion to manager has been recategorized or regrouped.
