10.1 (p.230) Guidelines for evaluating Web and print resources.

The Evaluating Web Sources Web site, provided by Widener University, provides checklists for evaluating specific types of Web sites, such as advocacy web pages, business or marketing pages, and personal pages.

Each checklist explains how to recognize the different types of sites and provides criteria to evaluate a site’s credibility. For example, if you follow the link to Advocacy Web Pages, you will find a definition of an advocacy site and links to sample sites, such as the National Abortion and Reproductive Rights League, The National Right to Life Committee, The Democratic Party, and the Republican Party.

The checklist provides five criteria that you can use to assess these, and other, Web sites: authority, accuracy, objectivity, coverage and currency.
