HELP: How do I use a computer footnote program?

  1. Place the cursor at the point in the text where you want the number to appear.
  2. Find the FOOTNOTE command (typically on the INSERT menu).

Select either a footnote or an endnote from the choices presented in the text box.

  1. Type in the text of the footnote.
  2. The computer will automatically generate the footnote and place it at the bottom of the appropriate page or generate an endnote and place it in a consecutive list at the end of the paper.

Note: Most word-processing programs offer considerable control over the appearance of footnotes, but to take advance of these features, you will need to read the program documentation.
