5.6 (p.93) Advice on revising style and tone.

Paradigm Online Writing Assistant <http://www.powa.org/>, pictured below, has extensive advice on revising the style and tone of your essay.

To find out how to revise for style, go to the stable menu on the left side of the screen and click on "Developing Your Style." This will take you to an explanation of what style is and how to incorporate your style into your writing. For example it says, "Everyone has an individual style, not only professional writers. We all—the Hell's Angel in leather and denim, the banker in pinstripes and bifocals—reveal our personalities and values in our appearance, in our possessions, and in our language."

To find out how style and tone are interconnected, click on "The Writer's Voice: A Personal Response"on the stable menu. For example, it says, "A sprinkling of profanity might be just the thing in a letter to an old Marine Corps buddy, but chances are you'd leave it out of a letter to your grandmother."

This discussion is followed by activities to give you practice developing your style and tone.
