The University of California at Berkeley provides an Internet tutorial to help you understand how to use search engines to research on the Web, understand URLs, and evaluate Web sites: Finding Information on the Internet. There is also an extensive glossary that clearly defines technological terms. The menu bar across the top of the page allows you to easily move around the site to find the tutorials that are most useful to you.

Another site from the Office of Library Media Services is the Anatomy of a URL includes basic definitions about URLs.  You can follow the "Quick Click Guide" at the top of the page to get tips on interpreting and dissecting URLs, which are important skills to have in order to evaluate the usefulness and credibility of a Web site.  You can also access a list of other useful sites that provide tutorials on understanding URLs.
