	Of course, there is also Secretaries Day.
	Secretaries Day, though, is now called Administrative Assistants Professionals Day.

	I'm starting to think that card companies make up many of these holidays.
	It really make you think twice about the meaning of a holiday.
	I like to feel that a holiday is a holiday because it has great meaning to a large number of people.
	Memorial Day, for example, gives people a chance to remember those who have given their lives for a noble cause.

	Banks are closed on Memorial Day, and it's a day when post offices are closed also.
	It's a day when people are reminded to take time to reflect on the holiday and it's meaning.
	We remember those who aren't around anymore.
	We reflect on these memories when we're with friends and family.

	Martin Luther Kings birthday is another holiday with great meaning.
	He worked very hard for all of our nation's people.
	His speeches inspired millions to continue his work for equality and peace.
	He was killed by an assassin's bullet.

	Labor Day's a third holiday that is very significant.
	The holiday celebrates the American work ethic as well as Americas workers.
	It falls on the first Monday of September each year.
	I'm sure most people are glad to have the day off.

	Other holidays include St. Patrick's Day, and St. Valentine's Day.
	The two holidays are named for saints, but neither holiday is a religious one.
	On St. Patrick's Day, there are parades, green beer, and shamrocks everywhere.
	On St. Valentine's Day, there are hearts, chocolates, and pictures of cupid figures everywhere.

	On St. Patrick's Day, everyone is considered Irish.
	The holiday is celebrated on March 17 each year.
	On that day, people wish each other, "the luck of the Irish."
	They drink green beer, and they decorate places with shamrocks.

	St. Valentine's Day is said to be "the day for lovers."
	People are expected to exchange cards flowers or candy with their loved ones.
	For many, it's a day of romance and wonderful memories.
	However, some find it to be a depressing reminder of a lagging love life.

	One holiday celebrated by many cultures around the world.
	New Year's Day is celebrated on January 1 in the United States, but some cultures celebrate it later in January or even in February.
	New Year's Day seems to bring with it a promise of great things to come.
	It suggests new beginnings.

	The coming of spring also signals new beginnings.
	For Christians, Easter is an important holiday that signifies new life and promise.
	The Easter Bunny.
	Parades, Easter bonnets, and painted eggs are among the items that pop up during the holiday.

	Christmas is another holiday that is considered holy among Christians.
	It is also a holiday that has become commercialized.
	Santa Claus, snowmen, and artificial trees are commonly associated with Christmas.
	Although for Christians it is a celebration of Christ's birth.

	Their seems to be at least one holiday each month in America.
	Some months have more than one holiday.
	February, for example, has Groundhog's Day, Valentine's Day, Lincoln's Birthday, and Washington's Birthday.
	Of course, Groundhog's Day hardly seems like a holiday at all.

	Most people probably get only too of the four February holidays off from work.
	Some employers have combined Lincoln's and Washington's Birthdays into a single holiday called Presidents' Day.
	That means that some people get only one day off from work in February.
	I suppose, though, that having one day off is better than none.

	Many students are lucky enough to get an entire week off in March or April.
	That week is referred to as Spring Break.
	Spring Break can be a wonderful brake from a lot of studying and exams.
	Some students, though, get a little wild during Spring Break.

	Although it is not a national holiday, summer vacation was a school-related holiday to which many students look forward.
	There are students who will count down the days until summer vacation.
	It's a time when students can take a break from their studies and relax or pursue other interests.
	Some take summer jobs, but others travel.

	If I had a lot of money, I would travel around the world during the summer vacation.
	I would learn about different cultures, and I will try different foods.
	I would go out and meet as many new people as possible.
	I would study languages and try to learn as much as I could.

	Next year, I am going to go to Mexico City.
	I don't speak Spanish, but I am going to learn before I leave for Mexico.
	I think that it will be an exciting trip, and I can't waiting to go.
	It will be a lot of fun, and it'll be a real learning experience for me.
