Lab Activity 32: Using Proper Format
 
 
Objective: To use proper format for typed and handwritten papers.

Step 3: Answer each of the questions below.


      1. Whenever possible, papers should be typed or prepared on a word processor. 

 
 


      2. The paper's title should be typed in all capital letters. 

 
 


      3. The paper's title should be centered on the first page. 

 
 


      4. When writing a paper by hand, you should use pencil. 

 
 


      5. When writing a paper by hand, you should write on every line. 

 
 


      6. When writing your paper on a word processor, you should use standard-sized white paper, 8-1/2 by 11 inches. 

 
 


      7. You should write or type all the way to the edge of the paper. 

 
 


      8. You should include your name, the date, your course name or number, and your instructor's name wherever your instructor tells you to write them. 

 
 


      9. When writing your paper on a word processor, you should double-space. 

 
 


      10. When writing your paper by hand, you should use bright-colored ink, such as red or purple. 

 
 


      11. When writing your paper on a word processor, you should use a mix of different fonts. 

 
 


      12. You should begin each paragraph at the left margin. 

 
 


      13. When writing your paper by hand, you should be extra careful to make your punctuation marks clear and distinct. 

 
 


      14. Your margins should be about 1/2 inch on all sides of the paper. 

 
 


      15. If you write your paper by hand, you don't have to worry about writing neatly because your teacher will know what you mean. 

 
 


      16. You should use bright yellow paper for your typed papers. 

 
 


      17. Whether you write your paper by hand or type it, you should fold the before turning it in because your instructor will get a kick out of that. 

 
 


      18. You should use a blue or black ink pen when you write your papers by hand. 

 
 


      19. Your margins should be at least one-inch wide on all sides of your paper. 

 
 


      20. You should indent the first line of your paragraph five spaces from the left-hand margin.
