Lab Activity 5: The Writing Process

Objective: To practice the writing process.

Step 2: Select one of the subjects about which you did prewriting practice in Step 1 in your textbook.


		1. Write that subject in the box below. To create paragraphs in your essay response, type <p> at the beginning of the paragraph, and </p> at the end.

		2. Now, refer to the prewriting you did for that subject in Step 1. For this step, choose a different prewriting strategy from the list below. Freewriting Listing Questioning Keeping a journal Clustering Outlining For example, if you used freewriting in Step 1, you might want to try listing or questioning in this step. In the box below, take five minutes to do some prewriting on the same subject using the different prewriting strategy you chose. To create paragraphs in your essay response, type <p> at the beginning of the paragraph, and </p> at the end.

		3. *Step 3: Now, in the box below, use your prewriting material from Steps 1 and 2 to write a rough draft of a paragraph on the topic you've selected. An example of a rough draft has been done for you. Don't worry about writing clearly or correctly at this point. You will work on that part of the writing process in later chapters. Example of a rough draft:* Im left handed. I felt prejudice against left handers almost everywhere I go. Everything in life seems to be desined for right handers. Why should that be. Some famouse and very successful people is left handed, although I couldnt think of any right now. So why don't people have more consideration. Wherever I go I tell people that he or she should be considerate, like I ask for a desk that's desined for a left hander. Its only fair. Now, write your rough draft.
