(7)I asked Alfonse if he could give me a few slices with no meat and more vegetables instead in the toppings. (8)He said he couldn't do that because he would have to make an entire pizza with only vegetables, and he would not be able to sell the rest of it. (9)I said I understood, ate my few slices with meat toppings, and silently vowed never to eat there again. (10)It was over a year before I dropped by Alfonse's again. (12)When we walked in, Alfonse greeted me with a big smile, and pointed to a sign behind him that said "Vegetarian pizza on request." (13)I smile [smiled] back and ordered a few slice [slices] of vegetarian pizza; my friends ordered regular pizza with meat. (14)Alfonse said he could make a vegetarian pizza but I had to order a whole pie, not just a few slices. (15)Some of my friends agreed [to] share [a] vegetarian pie, so we ordered one [of] those. (16)However, I was still not satisfy [satisfied], and I could tell that Alfonse realize [realized] it. (17)It was another year before I went to Alfonse's again. (18)This time, his expression was more complex: sum [some] happiness mixed [in] with something else I couldn't quite figure out. (19)Then, I glanced behind him and saw his new sign saying, "Vegetarian pizza by the slice." (20)I am now once again a regular at Alfonse's.
