About the Lecturer:
R. S. Gwynn has taught at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas since 1976. He was named University Professor, the institutions highest academic rank, in 1997 and was recently recognized as an outstanding teacher by Phi Kappa Phi. Gwynn has published five collections of critically acclaimed poetry and has edited several textbooks, including Literature: A Pocket Anthology; Fiction: A Pocket Anthology; Drama: A Pocket Anthology; The Longman Anthology of Short Fiction (with Dana Gioia); and Contemporary American Poetry: A Pocket Anthology (with April Lindner). In 2004 he received the Michael Braude Award for verse from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Gwynn enjoys singing and lives in Beaumont with his family.
