

Gretchen Starks-Martin has a doctorate degree in higher education from Syracuse University and a master's degree in reading from Western Michigan University. She has taught reading and writing over 30 years at the community college, technical college, and university levels. She has been involved in developmental education as President of the New York College Learning Skills Association and the Minnesota Association of Developmental Education and most recently as Treasurer of the College Reading and Learning Association. Publications and professional development have dealt with retention of students and using technology in developmental education.
