Reading as Thinking
Chapter Summary

Reading is a thinking process. In this chapter you will learn five reading strategies combined into one system method called the SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite and Review). This system targets what you do before reading, during reading, and after reading. More specifically, you will learn how to (1) preview before reading, (2) develop guide questions while reading, and (3) review after reading.

Exercises and mastery tests will give you the opportunity to apply the SQ3R technique presented in this chapter.
