The following paragraph contains dialect, regionalisms, slang, jargon, and pretentious, biased or trite writing. Replace each of these sentences with better word choices.

Once when I was fixin’ to be goin’ to the doctor, I was scared because I was sure he would hurt me. I tried to keep in mind that doctors ain’t monsters. But after gettin’ so many shots as a youngin’, it is hard not to be afeared. I brought a pop in a sack with me in case I got thirsty. When the receptionist called my name I said, “I be scared.” She said “Don’t you worry; the doctor is real cool.” I told the doctor that I was experiencing a compilation of symptoms that were causing me to suffer in a misery matched by no other. Upon the conclusion of my visit I felt far better than I imagined was possible. Doctors be an excellent resource. They ain’t no one to be afraid of. So next time you don’t feel well, don’t be chicken. Go see your doc. He can help ya!
