Exercise 3

I finished my first and only semester at Tech in November and returned home to Mandeville to await our big move on the first of December. On the big day, my boyfriend was there to see me off at the airport, and I could only kiss him quickly and turn away before I changed my mind altogether and stayed there with him. I cried the whole way to Virginia, and didn’t get out of bed for four days once we had moved in. Unfortunately, I had missed application deadlines for most universities and had to take the rest of the semester off, during which I worked two jobs and took several art classes. I hated not being in school. I felt like I was missing out on something, and was incredibly jealous of all my friends back home. They would call and complain about their classes or a paper they had to write and I was just wishing that I could be in their place. I started looking for schools to attend in the fall and I stumbled upon Virginia Commonwealth University on the Internet. I sent in my application and portfolio, hoping to be accepted into the School of the Arts. After what seemed like an eternity, I received my acceptance papers. I can’t remember being so excited about going back to school. I had my time off; I was ready to go back.
