Cast Your Vote

Participate in an opinion poll with your classmates and other students using this textbook around the country by answering the following questions.

  1. How long should House members stay in office?

  1. Do you believe that the individuals elected to Congress have an obligation to make policy decisions based on what their constituency desires, or do you believe that they should make decisions based on their own reasoning?

  1. Do you think the increasing use of the internet and virtual town hall meetings will make it easier for representatives to represent their constituents?

  Women and minorities should organize with the specific goal of changing the makeup of Congress.
  It is not necessary to change the makeup of Congress. The race or gender of your representative does not ensure that they will better represent your interests.
  This change can only be brought about over time.
